Kennesaw homes built from the 1980s through the 2000s in Legacy Park and Chastain Lakes often have LG French-door models tucked into tight kitchens with limited airflow. In Cobb County’s humid subtropical summers, door gaskets collect moisture that leads to frost buildup behind the evaporator and forces the compressor to run longer cycles. Technicians see these units daily when homeowners report warm freezer sections or water pooling under the crisper drawers after heavy rain events.
Near Kennesaw State University and Town Center, newer townhomes and condos frequently install counter-depth LG models that sit flush with cabinets. Restricted side clearance prevents proper condenser coil ventilation, shortening the life of the linear compressor. When these units fail, the job usually requires pulling the refrigerator into open floor space before accessing the sealed system, adding time compared with standard-depth units in single-family homes along Big Shanty.
Older properties near the Southern Museum of Civil War and Locomotive History and Swift-Cantrell Park often have 15- to 20-year-old LG side-by-sides with original water lines that have mineral scale from Cobb County water. Ice maker solenoid valves stick or leak at the inlet, and the plastic fill tubes crack when temperatures swing between mild winter nights and warm days. Replacement parts must match the exact model number stamped on the door frame to avoid fit issues with the existing shelving.
Calls from Acworth, Woodstock and Marietta frequently involve LG units that display error codes after power flickers common during summer storms. The main control board in the refrigerator section interprets these interruptions as sensor faults, shutting down cooling until the code is cleared and the board is tested. Technicians carry common LG boards for quick swaps rather than ordering from Atlanta suppliers.
Technician insight
In Kennesaw the thing that catches most people out with LG Refrigerator Repair is restricted airflow around counter-depth units in newer townhomes near KSU. The linear compressor overheats because side vents sit against cabinets, and homeowners assume it is just a bad compressor when the real fix is often adding space or cleaning coils they cannot reach.
Warm Freezer In Legacy Park Townhome
Homeowner in Legacy Park reported the freezer section warming while the fridge stayed cold. Inspection showed the evaporator fan motor seized from dust buildup and the control board had logged repeated fan faults. Replaced the fan motor and cleared the board codes. Unit returned to normal temperatures within two hours.
